Understanding Reactive Behaviour: The Roles of Arousal, Stress, Anxiety, and Fear

  • 29 Participants

About

Reactive behaviour in dogs is not something we should automatically attribute to a single cause. For one dog, fear might trigger reactivity; for another, it could be anxiety. A third dog might react out of frustration. One thing we know for certain is that strong emotional responses always lead to changes in behaviour—because big reactions stem from big feelings. When faced with these big reactions, it’s essential to understand what’s really happening for the dog. Emotional states like fear, anxiety, arousal, excitement, and frustration are distinct, and each has a different effect on the dog’s body and brain. By understanding what’s happening beneath the surface, we can take the first steps toward helping dogs feel safer and more secure. In this live webinar, you’ll learn: The differences between arousal, stress, anxiety, fear, and trauma—and their impact on reactivity. How breed type can influence a dog’s reactivity. How different emotional states affect a dog’s brain, body, and behaviour. How to identify triggers and recognise early warning signs of emotional overwhelm. Proven strategies to create positive changes, building trust, confidence, and calmness in reactive dogs. Whether you’re a dog guardian, trainer, or behaviour professional, this session will equip you with the understanding, actionable insights, and techniques to help transform reactivity into resilience. 📅 22nd January 2025 🕖 7pm (BST)
